Firearm and Toolmark Identification Course
The Department of Forensic Science is offering a 6-week-long asynchronous online course on the Introduction to Firearm and Toolmark Identification, taught by former firearms examiner and current forensic firearms consultant, Stephanie Walcott.

Course Details
Students will participate in self-paced learning consisting of reading and written assignments, as well as presentations, on the way to earning a certificate of completion and a digital badge.

- History of firearm and ammunition development
- History of firearm and toolmark identification
- Introduction to firearms identification
- Cognitive bias factors in comparative analysis

Once registration is complete, an invoice will be emailed to the registered person and their agency contact (if applicable) with additional payment instructions. Acceptable forms of payment include credit card (preferred), check or money order payable to VCU Department of Forensic Science.
