Platform: The course is delivered in a modular format utilizing Google Drive and consists of required reading and video assignments, written assignments and tests, and presentations.

Audience: Firearm examiner trainees currently working in a crime laboratory or law enforcement agency. Graduates or current forensic students looking to get an early start in forensic firearms training.

This online course is designed and taught by former Firearm & Toolmark Examiner, Assistant Professor, and current Undergraduate Program Director for the VCU Department of Forensic Science, Stephanie Walcott. The content and format is based on the standard training program developed by the Association of Firearm & Toolmark Examiners (AFTE), as well as current published and publicly available training materials from a variety of U.S. federal, state, and/or local/municipal laboratory systems.
